In 2026 Q1, Global Affairs Canada reported USD 796.8 million in disbursements. Of that amount, 341.4 million (42.8%) was directed to African recipients.
For 2026 Q1, the five largest African country-level recipients were Ethiopia (25.4 million), Tanzania (23.1 million), South Sudan (21.5 million), Senegal (18.3 million), and Mozambique (16.7 million). These five countries accounted for 105.0 million, or 42.2% of country-level African disbursements. At the country level, the largest sectors were Government and Civil Society, Population Policies and Reproductive Health, and Emergency Response. The largest regional-level sectors were Education, General Environment Protection, and Government and Civil Society.
